Behind the Mic: Homeschool Co-op Explores the Magic and Business of Radio
Today, Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach welcomed 20 students and their parents from a local homeschool co-op for an exciting, educational tour of our studios. This wasn’t just a walk-through—it was a deep dive into the magic of radio and the business behind it.
The day began with an exclusive opportunity to sit in with WRMF’s THE KVJ Show, where students experienced the fast-paced energy of a live morning broadcast. Watching the team in action gave them a front-row seat to the creativity, timing, and teamwork that make great radio happen.
From there, the group explored every facet of the station, learning how different departments work together to keep us on the air and connected to the community. Our experts from Programming, Sales, Production, Promotions, and Digital shared presentations that revealed the inner workings of the industry:
- Programming explained how music and content are curated to engage listeners.
- Sales showed how partnerships and advertising fuel the business side of radio.
- Production demonstrated the art of creating commercials and imaging that bring brands to life.
- Promotions highlighted how events and contests build excitement and listener loyalty.
- Digital & Social showcased how radio extends beyond the airwaves into online platforms.
Students were amazed to learn that radio is more than just voices on a mic—it’s a dynamic business that blends creativity, technology, and strategy.
At Hubbard Radio, we believe in inspiring the next generation and showing them the possibilities within media and communications. Today’s tour was a perfect example of how radio combines entertainment, education, and entrepreneurship.
Thank you to the Homeschool Co-op for joining us today! We hope you left with new knowledge, big dreams, and maybe even a spark for a future career in broadcasting.
